In the course of the working trip to Mykolaiv region, President Petro Poroshenko got himself acquainted with the capacities of the Tashlyk Pumped Storage Plant in Yuzhnoukrainsk. It is the second largest component of the South Ukrainian power complex in terms of capacities.
The Head of State spoke with the leadership of the PSP and thanked the staff for the important work of the enterprise.
“In fact, I think that the role currently played by nuclear power engineering, especially in the last 4-5 years, when we increased the share of nuclear energy to 60-61% in the balance of energy consumption and energy generation, means a huge contribution of nuclear power plants to energy security of the state and diversification of energy supply,” Petro Poroshenko emphasized.
“The fact that we survived without Russian gas is a significant contribution of nuclear energy,” the President said.
He added: “I want to thank the nuclear scientists for energy security and energy diversification. Good job”.
According to him, the state considers the construction of additional power units, in particular, at Tashlyk PSP and the Dniester PSP Station a priority. “This will make Ukraine’s economy more competitive,” Petro Poroshenko said.
