Ecuador will sign agreement for $ 70 million in Moreno’s visit to Japan
During the visit of President Lenin Moreno to Japan , a reimbursable cooperation agreement for 70 million dollars will be signed to partially finance the change in the energy matrix in Ecuador. Moreno’s visit to Japan will take place from September 5 to 7 , according to the Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry. The cooperation agreement will be one of several bilateral instruments to be signed by both countries. The energy project will be executed jointly by the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Japan Agency for International Cooperation (JICA).
The official visit is part of the celebration of the centenary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and responds to the invitation made by the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe , in order to deepen the political dialogue, promote bilateral trade and advance in the establishment of mechanisms to make investments in strategic sectors.
During the visit, Moreno and his delegation will hold a meeting with the representatives of the Japan Business Federation, which brings together the most important Japanese companies and corporations , in order to promote and disseminate the projects and investment opportunities in the country. . The Ecuadorian head of state will be received in audience by Emperor Akihito , and will hold working meetings with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and with the governors of Tokyo and Kyoto prefectures. The President will travel accompanied by the president of the Interinstitutional Committee of the “Plan for a Lifetime”, Rocio González de Moreno, Chancellor José Valencia, Finance Minister, Richard Martínez, and Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Pablo Campana, as well as as a group of entrepreneurs from different sectors of production.
